My new favourite London brunch, The Electric Diner

The Electric Diner, Portobello Road, London

I am a fan of good food. I don't get a lot of it at university now, and since we don't have an oven I've been having serious baking withdrawals. As a result, I take absolute advantage of London's food scene and my oven when I'm at home. I'm just going to put it out there: I miss avocados. I really just miss them, and poached eggs and pancakes and chia seeds. Goddamit I miss chia seeds, but I have nothing to put them in now and it seems odd to just eat them straight from the packet. And they're expensive.
So, that being said, I was excited to visit The Electric Diner with my parents last weekend when I was home. We walked there from Hammersmith to work up an appetite and despite having the express intention of getting waffles, I went for quinoa because I had a moment of health enlightenment and it sounded too good. And it involved poached eggs and avocado.
I'm just going to put this right out there: It was a 10/10 tasty party in my mouth. Perhaps not conventional brunch food, and I'm no food blogger, but I know a good plate of grub when I see it.
While I would definitely advise booking ahead, this is definitely my new favourite foodie spot in London and I'll be back (perhaps for waffles, perhaps not).

  2. Ooh that looks delicious, and the decor looks amazing too - especially the tiled floor. I totally agree on the missing avocado front but poached eggs are still doable at university - though mine need a lot of practise to get up to scratch!

  5. I tried to go to Electric Diner last week but it was so full, I had to go to Honest Burger (not bad, not bad), but if you really like healthy brunch, the Good Life Eatery is my favourite! x

  8. Aaah, poached eggs. Yum. Believe it or not I only had my first poached egg a year a so ago. I always thought they were too complicated to make, or something a little weird. But they are so awesome and delicious.
