Neutrals in New York

ASOS coat (similar) and jumper (here), MONKI pants (similar), MARC BY MARC JACOBS beanie (similar), ZARA bag.

New York is cold. Oh sweet mother of Mary and baby Jesus,  New York is cold. It is so cold that there was no way someone could dress appropriately without dipping into ski wear; I don't do organized sports in summer, let alone in minus anything degrees. I don't own ski wear. I didn't even have a hat and scarf. I was not ready. Luckily my spidey senses were tingling and I scouted out this beanie and a big cosy blanket scarf within about an hour of waking up the first morning. Huzzah for when a sixth sense for shopping doesn't only lead you to the 'bargain' (because $950 to $650 is such a steal, right? Right?) rack at Bloomingdales but actually possibly prevents pneumonia. Bless you, spidey senses. While it may not look like I'm wearing a whole lot, these were taken yesterday on the warmer day (slight irony- spot the fresh snow) and I have more layers under here than the depth of drunk emotional talks.

We come here at least once a year so while it's always nice to do/see/eat new things, we're a fan of the regulars. We've been hitting up the usual restaurants with a couple new additions I wanted to try. I also made time for MoMa and we're venturing over to the Guggenheim for the first time today as well as shopping around Soho before our flight home tonight. This trip I whipped out my camera more than usual (and so it was practically frozen to my arm- both handy and not so much) and will be putting together a little treat for you guys in the form of a New York City guide that should be up in a couple weeks after exams are done and dusted.

Have a great weekend, stay fresh.

  18. I can't imagine what it feels like to be in NY during this time of year. I'm glad that you were able to find a proper beanie, though, and it looks great with that neutral outfit. I also really like the cool and oversized look of your coat.

  25. Looking lovely as usual. Love the contrast between you last post and this one. Skipping between warm weather and cold is the worst! Definitely think it's a little funny that you've got your ankles peeking out in these photos. No wonder you were so cold! Love the coat. The shorter sleeves makes for such an interesting mix of proportions. Hope your exams went well! Look forward to your NYC guide.
