Acai breakfast bowl

Last week, I discovered whole foods.
After a few weeks of feeling off due to stress and my skin breaking out for the first time in seventeen years (i.e. my whole life) I decided now was the time to start what I'd been wanting to do for a while; clean eating. Dramatic, I know. I don't reckon it'll be a 24/7 preservative avoidance fest and if you know me, you'll know I already eat weirdly healthy most of the time, but I'm trying to just generally be more conscious about all the things I put in my body.
So yeah, I'm about to become the toolbox who eats every damn meal from a jar and says edgy words like 'anti-oxidants' and 'cacao nibs' while reclining on a bed made from quinoa because you can use that stuff for everything.

I digress, here is the recipe for my new found love, the Acai bowl, first tried in 2012 in Hawaii and finally recreated in my own home.

For the actual bowl you'll need:
- 1/2 frozen banana // large handful of frozen blueberries and raspberries // frozen Acai berry's (get them from Wholefoods and they come in handy pouches) // tablespoon of greek yogurt // teaspoon of chia seeds (optional) // 1/2 a cup of unsweetened almond milk // a bowl

Topping ideas:
- 1/2 a chopped banana // strawberries // granola- I use grain free granola // cacao nibs (you don't need much of this at all because the flavour is obscenely strong) // chopped coconut // nuts // nut butter (almond, peanut etc)

Recipe:
1) Blend frozen banana, frozen berries, Acai berry, yogurt, chia seeds and almond milk in food processor or blender (you'll need to be patient with a blender because it will take longer- I also suggest letting the frozen fruit thaw a little if using a blender)
2) Apply toppings
3) Take attractive instagram picture showing how aesthetic and healthy your meal is
4) Feel like pop-eye because antioxidants.

That's it! I won't claim to be a michelin star chef (obviously) but this recipe is really easy, really healthy and just plain tasty. It's a bit like fruit sorbet, but without the added sugar.
If you guys liked this, let me know and I'll share some more healthy recipes since I've got a whole pinterest board dying to be tried, tested and eaten.
