New York I love you

#teenvogue // ZARA coat (similar), ASOS faux fur stole, VINTAGE bag, DANIEL WELLINGTON watch (c/o), TOPSHOP jeans, KURT GEIGER shoes (here or cheaper), SPITFIRE sunglasses (similar)

New York, I love you but you're bringing me down...literally it's so cold I just want to curl up on the floor and weep, though my tears would probably turn to ice immediately and freeze to my face.
No, okay, that's a tad dramatic; it isn't that bad. It's definitely made me realize how lucky we have it in London, I don't think I could survive four months of -5 degrees Celsius, even if it was in New York.
This is what I wore our first day here (don't worry, I had two pairs of nylon socks on to keep my ankles warm(ish). I've actually decided that turtlenecks are the way forward in life having just come out of a 10 year phase of hating them, they're practical and named after a pretty cool animal so really one might be inclined to assume they're magical.
We started the day with breakfast at Penelope's (a new found favorite, I want to and am determined to try everything) before heading over to the Rockefeller center. I've been to Manhattan numerous times, especially in the last couple years, but yesterday was the first time I'd ever gone up to the Top of the Rock (the observation deck on the 67th floor). I have vertigo but I couldn't resist, and despite being a little shaky, I still managed to stay up for a while and take some amazing photos of the view. It is definitely the best view of the city I've ever seen, and although it was so chilly my ears almost fell off, I regret nothing. Then we headed over to Central Park to go ice skating, I made friends with a small child that amazingly managed to fall over more times than me (balancing is not my forte). We bonded over a mutual love of Dinosaurs and the fact our parents had abandoned us because they actually knew how to ice skate and wanted to go really fast. Pft. After that we (sans my small child friend) wandered back towards our hotel in Midtown, stopping off at Five Guys and absorbing the best burger in the whole word (not an exaggeration) and the best fries in the universe (understatement).
More tomorrow!

  7. Oh Camilla you should experience the Nordic winter. As a Finnish-turned-Londoner I am cherishing these mild "winter" days. I'm used to minus twenty or more degrees - you adjust to it, by wearing everything you own. Starting with an eskimo jacket. But there's the ultimate plus side: all the snow. Not London-snow of one inch, I mean serious snow up to one metre. AH the thought of it makes me miss that feeling when you can't smile (or stop smiling) cos your cheeks have frozen still.

  9. I would love to go to New York some day! The weather here in Denmark is getting colder and colder, so I imagine the temperature wouldn't bother me too much if I were to go in the wintertime :-)

  14. so ridiculously jealous of your NYC trip, it's insane! You look lush though, despite the cold. It's freezing here but I'm still feeling a little gutted that there's no snow!
