What season is it anyway?

#teenvogue // ZARA jumper and bag, H&M skirt, SPITFIRE sunglasses

I am, by and large, the worst practical dresser ever. No seriously, ask my mother. From a young age I was aware of the fact it was -5 degrees outside, and still insisting that I didn't need to wear winter boots. As a result of this, I spent 90% of my childhood with a runny nose and the rest of it eating smarties (ok whatever, more than 10% but who's counting). While any sane person may assume such trauma may lead to a slightly higher temperature awareness when getting dressed as a teenager, I'm fairly certain the issue has not only gotten worse, but inverted itself. What do I mean? See above for a key point, it was about 21 degrees when I wore my new Zara sweater and while #yolo was very much at the forefront of my mind, I did have a couple moments where I genuinely thought I might die of heatstroke.

The expression 'winter fall is coming' has been one used with extensive vigor in the blogosphere lately and it in fact highlights what I concede to be one of the greatest issues of this month: fall isn't bloody anywhere near. It's 20 degrees outside and my wallet requires that I wear, immediately, all of these fall items I've invested in. Sweaters, scarves, boots and all. For once, I'm ready for winter but it is not ready for me. This is some perverse Shakespearean tragedy because I don't want to die of over heating but I also really really want to wear my new hounds tooth scarf and those Sigerson Morrison boots I found at a ridiculous discount in the states. Woe is me because at this point the latter desire might just be triumphing. All this talk of transitional dressing leaves me feeling jaded, how can their be a transitional period before the transitional season that is fall? What does that even mean? Where do I unsubscribe to the mailing list of that bad idea because frankly it's messing with my mojo. Until autumn decides to show it's rusty colored head, I think I might just pretend it has and I invite everyone to join me so that at least if we all get heatstroke, the hospitals will be well experienced to deal with it. Plan?
There is nothing worse than a day when it's too cold to wear a summer dress and too hot to wear a jumper, at least nothing sartorially worse. I beg of you summer, either ramp up the heat lamps or go back to Florida where you came from; if you won't to put in the required effort then don't bother.
Until then, I'm going to side with fall because pink is the main trend and so help me lord it's almost Wednesday.

  3. I have always been an impractical dresser too. I'm still wearing my sandals for as long as I can until I'm nearing on frostbite - winter boots and I have always had a turbulent relationship too!

  7. This is the story of my life. I never understand how bloggers will wear a jumper and shorts as if it's too cold for a jumper, then it's too cold for bare legs. Plus the rain is a factor, I refuse to wear tights until October.

  11. Love the colour of that jumper. The weather is crazy at the moment. After a non-existent 'winter' in Australia involving 25+ degree days we are now into a spring that feels like summer. Hope you get to wear your fall investment pieces soon.

  22. I too am awful at dressing appropriately for the season, it's difficult finding autumnal clothes. I absolutely adore the jumper though, so I don't blame you!

  23. I, too, always find myself not dressing appropriately for the weather, which is a bad habit that I need to break. For the first time, I can't wait for colder temperatures (Autumn weather to be exact) so that I can wear layers and coats and scarves. Lovely outfit btw. x
