Orange pop

#teenvogue // Asos coat, skirt and bag c/o romwe.com, Zara shoes and top, HM collar.

Come November, and it starts to get cold outside in London. Yesterday, I was wandering around town and I saw approximately 20 women with skirts/dresses and no tights. When it's 4 degrees Celsius outside, that's 20 women too many. I read blogs and magazines adorned with articles where women gloat about their ability to soldier through negative temperatures with no tights. "Congratulations" I say, swiftly followed by "But did you forget to take your crazy pills this morning?".
Of course that little skirt looks better without tights, and yes I do understand that a London girl takes a black cab everywhere so what does it matter, but I quite like tights. I'm a huge fan of clothing that serves many purposes (cue spiky shoes- pretty and a perfectly viable form of defense) and so I guess that's why I appreciate tights - I think they add something to an outfit, and I know they keep my legs a little toasty warm. For me, the classic black pair of tights is a classy, sane, logical way of embracing winter. Especially if, like me, you're partial to skirts and dresses over jeans.
If you're wondering why I'm looking down in all of these photos, it's because I'm thinking 'By god, it's cold today, but look at these marvelous tights keeping my legs warm!". I urge you to do the same, embrace the warmth.
P.s wondering what I wore for Halloween? Check out my costume here.

  4. Reminded me of a friend who moved to England in autumn/winter (well, it was very cold by then) and her first ever impression was "They aren't wearing tights - instead they are in shoes as if it's summer!" :)
I know bare legs can look beautiful, but no... Got to be warm. :)

  20. I always read about bloggers avoiding wearing tights, because it's not cool and they are awful at view: I say, are you crazy? First, they pretty make your legs look thinner and they keep them warm. I think nude tights are terrible but black ones are pretty cool!

  23. You make that ASOS coat look uber expensive! and so are your leather studded shorts, what a great combo. If winter is causing you to change up your clothes, I'm loving what I'm seeing dear! Btw, I recently did an outfit post in an elevator; who'd knew it was that tough to pose in a metal box, you've gotta' check it out!
